Well, up on Gobblers Knob in Punxsutawney PA this morning, Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow meaning six more weeks of winter. Boooooo!!!! You can click on Happy Groundhog Day 2017 above and see actually what went on up on Gobblers Knob this morning. If it makes anyone feel better, Phil has only been accurate 39% of the time, so there is still hope for an early spring!!!
This week has been a snowy week here in NW PA. We have about 10 or so inches on the ground right now, but the sun is shining brightly and the sky is clear blue. Just a beautiful day unless you think that 31 degrees is a little too cold for ya!! Tonight is going down to 13 degrees!! Bring on spring!!
I've been shoveling the front of the garage and sidewalk twice a day this week and this morning was no exception. We awoke to another 2" of the white stuff. It snows and then it seems to pack down, and then it snows some more. If it all stayed where it was and didn't pack down, we would have well over 19" of snow for this week, I swear!!
I got out the 4WD Chevy P/U and made it to quilting, of course, yesterday. I worked to finish the picnic table topper. All I need to do now is to it sit down in front of the TV on Superbowl Sunday and hem the binding on. Here it is..............
The next thing I began was Jess' TV table runner. I got it cut out and assembled and it is now layered and ready for quilting. On the topper above I tried three different stitches programmed on my machine. I may try one of those on Jess' as well. I hope she likes it! She wanted red with tan and black. I hope to finish this up by next week. Hey, Jess, if you don't like it, let me know and we can come up with something else. It looks very nice in person though, my lady friends at the center just love it!
That's it for quilting for the week.
I made a trip to Andover OH and went into the Goodwill Store. The drawing I made last week, I liked it so much that I decided to find a cheapie frame to put it in. I got this frame for $1.00. It had a few nicks on the wood, so I sanded it and stained it and it looks great!!
And last but not least, I told you two postings ago that I'd show you our Theater Room which is located in our basement. This room was built solely by Bernie; well, I may have helped or hindered him just a bit, but it is truly one beautiful room. The room is multi-level. You have to step up to the top seating area when you enter and then step down to the lower seating area.
We chose the color scheme of eggplant and sage. I know, it doesn't sound like those two colors would complement one another, but I'm an avid HGTV watcher and we couldn't be happier with the results. The walls are a light sage green, the wall acoustic panels are a little darker sage green and between the molding and floor is darker sage green to match the acoustic panels. We also purchased two electric two-seat recliners in the darker sage green as well. The carpeting is eggplant color and is very plush.
First photo, is from the front looking back, you can see the multi-levels. Also, you can see where the molding is on the left side of the recliner, between that molding and the floor is a space where we painted a darker sage green to match the recliners and panels on the walls.
This third photo, is something Bernie came up with and I loved the idea. We wanted to make something different for this room. We constructed this out of plywood and painted it black, we put blue rope lighting around the inside of it. Next, I drew out the Northern Hemisphere in Spring sky on the wood, with all the constellations, etc. I also incorporated his Leo, my Gemini, and Bryan's Aries constellations on the board. Then Bernie began drilling out several hundred holes. We then put fiber optic lights into these holes that twinkle as stars do. The fiber optic lights were three different sizes which helps show dimension. It is our featured item in this room. It took us and Bryan and Jess to hang this up. It was one heavy piece. The suspended room tiles are black as well.
I purchased these movie quotes for Bernie online and having had them two Christmas' already I thought it was time to put them up. After discussing where to put them with Jess and Bryan, they liked them going around the top bulkhead of the room. I only put this one up so far, as it's not easy making them straight by oneself. I just put this one up today and will wait for Bernie to help me with the rest.
This next photo is looking from the back of the room forward. The wall cabinet in the front of the room houses the Blu-Ray player and cable type components. The TV in the front of the room is a 70" Vizio HDTV with a Sony surround sound. Incredible sound especially when watching Civil War movies, right Bryan??? The canons sound like they are in the room.
This photo just shows the step-up theater lighting so you don't trip and fall.
This is from back again to front showing the entire room. On the floor to the left of the recliner is our electric fireplace heater. This keeps the room nice and toasty. The wall the TV is on is the opposite wall seen in my sewing area that I showed you last week.
The exercise bike has been moved in so that we can ride and watch TV at the same time. Nothing like pedaling to Drew Carey on "Price is Right." There is a second exit door, on the right front of the theater.
This photo shows the fiber optic sky better and the lighting on the sides over the panels which is on a dimmer switch.
That's it, my tour of our Theater Room. My husband is so incredibly talented and I never know what he'll come up with next, but whatever it is, it will be fantastic, I'm sure.
Thanks for stopping by today and see ya again next Thursday!!
Hugs,
Debbie
