Valentine's Week!

Hello everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day!!  My week started off with snow, of course, and then more snow, then a warm up, then more snow, and on and on.  Today I awoke to about 5", we were to get less than 1".  Wrong again!  Guess the lake effect machine will never shut down this year as Lake Erie is not frozen.  We will be in the 50's over the upcoming weekend and carrying through a few days next week.  Strange February indeed!

Tuesday was our Valentine's Day lunch at the center and we had shrimp cocktail, stuffed pork chop w/gravy, baked potato with butter and sour cream, french-style green beans, wheat roll and butter, milk, and cherry cheesecake for dessert.  This meal was $6.  It was delicious!!j

We played Name That Tune, most of which I had no clue, too old for me, the oldest I knew was Fat's Domino, Ain't That a Shame only from attending so many car shows!!  There was some Elvis, but after I won my piece of candy, I let the others guess.  Then they had a cakewalk for a box of Valentine's Chocolate and Hot Potato, which was a nerf ball and when the music stopped whomever had the ball won chocolate.  There was a 50/50 and Chinese auction for a wine gift card, grocery gift card and restaurant gift card, these were donated.  They had the Valentine's Day Quilt Raffle and guess what...........................

Yep, that's right!  I was the luck winner again for a quilt.  If you recall, I won the Fall Quilt at the Thanksgiving Party.  This one is really lovely.

It was quilted with hearts all over!!
The corners have hearts with the word love inside!!
The back was done in white and you can see all the beautiful quilting that Joannie, of our quilt group, did.

One of my quilts is up for auction now!  It was the pink Trip Around the World quilt that I made before Christmas.  Seems that the center likes to raffle them off as they make more money on them than selling them outright, although she will sell them if someone really wants one.

So, lucky again I was.  I got a beautiful red rose, card, and Stefanelli's Chocolate from Bernie!

Since I didn't go to quilting yesterday, after our appointments, I worked on a Jigsaw Puzzle that was a gift from my sister's-in-law for my 60th birthday/retirement.  I don't have much more to do on it.

Maybe when I'm done the snow will go away when I put it away!!!

My next puzzle will NOT have a snowy theme!!

Quilt wise, I haven't done anything on the patriotic quilt as I'm busying myself with making the Humane Society pad donations as well as working on the Civil War cross-stitch each night!  As I said before, 2017 is going to be my year for finishing up projects started long ago!  I vow to finish everything that has been sitting around dormant for so long.

Well, eye doctor appts this afternoon, so I better get ready for that.  Talk to you again next Thursday!!

Have a wonderful week and if you're in PA, enjoy the nice weekend that is in store for us!!

Hugs,
Debbie

  1. Congrats Debbie!!! What a beautiful quilt. I just love reading your posts, even though I don't comment too much. It's like hearing from a dear friend. Hope you have a wonderful remainder of February, without too much more snow. Wish we'd get some here in NC. Take care, hugs!!!

  2. It is that time of the year when love in all its forms and types is celebrated. Yes, it

is Valentine’s Week, starting from February 7 to February 14. Especially around this

time, happily-in-love couples make the time and efforts to make their loved ones feel

special. They mark the day by exchanging gifts and spending quality time with each

other. Building up the hype of Valentine’s Day are the seven days that come before —

Rose Day, Propose Day, Chocolate Day, Teddy Day, Promise Day, Kiss Day, Hug Day — in

that order before the big V-Day comes a-calling.
